ItalyRobby Cantarutti & Francesca Petricich
Design studio Robby Cantarutti and Francesca Petricich (husband and wife) started in 1995 in Udine, Italy, known worldwide as the capital of furnishings, and in particular chairs, and as such their work is focused mainly on seating. They investigate the limits of applications and the possible uses of various materials ranging from wood to plastic. With this knowledge they provide technical support to manufacturers with whom they collaborate, creating the foundation for project realization. Studying different cultures of living, observing changes of daily life, and analyzing various human groups are stimuli to new projects that have contemporary functions and messages.
Cantarutti %26 Petricich propose themselves not only as a project studio, but also as a consultancy for the global image of a client. Industrial production (the natural destination of their projects) allows for a good quality/price relationship of the object. Their work always includes a CAD design of the project in order to have formal control of the construction. After the virtual model is completed, the project is verified through a prototype. The project is followed and controlled until the first standard series is ready. Their work involves not only industrial design, but also interior design and architecture. They have completed interior design projects for retail shops, private homes and trade fair stands. They find inspiration mostly by functional flexibility and space identity.
